People on the list may be interested in knowing that I will be co-presenting an ACS webinar on May 11 on "Creating a 21st Century Chemical Research Laboratory: Hazard Assessments and Fundamentals". In addition to reviewing ACS chemical safety resources, Green Chemistry methods and metrics will be discussed. Registration is free and open to the public.

This webinar is based on presentations that Dr. Kendra Leahy Delinger of the University of Cincinnati and I did at Keene State, MIT and Harvard last month. Kendra also provided a shorter version of this presentation at last week's ACS national meeting. People who were able to attend her presentation last week would do well to hear the more complete version.

The webinar description is:
Safety in the laboratory requires a full team effort to be successful. When everyone in the laboratory understands how to identify hazards, assess risk, and select the appropriate control measures to eliminate a hazard or minimize risk, accidents, injuries and near misses can be reduced. Join Ralph Stuart Environmental Safety Manager at Keene State College and Kendra Denlinger of the University of Cincinnati as they discuss new ACS resources that can support a safer and greener chemistry, and thus better science for the 21st century chemical research laboratory.

Registration is open now at
