Description
Glenn Hurst and Louise Summerton from the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence (GCCE) at the University of York in the United Kingdom will present a webinar on facilitating green chemistry educational pedagogies in school, university and industrial environments. They will discuss how they have GRASPed (Green Reactants and Sustainable Products) their undergraduate degree programmes at the University of York with respect to programme design, practical laboratory classes and group exercises. Glenn and Louise will also present (with practical demonstrations) some of the completed and ongoing outreach projects for elementary, middle and high schools together with accompanying teacher resources. The exciting $25.8M CHEM21 project will also be discussed where the GCCE has launched a new online training platform http://learning.chem21.eu comprising of a range of free, shareable and interactive educational and training materials created to promote the uptake of green and sustainable methodologies, with a particular focus on the synthesis of pharmaceuticals.
