A secure way for scientists to uncover political interference.
UCS is committed to monitoring and exposing attempts to manipulate science or censor federal scientists. Help us get our secure tool needed for scientists to share information about scientific integrity abuses to those who need it the most.

Dear Ralph,
Within just a few weeks of the Trump administration and congressional session, we have seen a multitude of attempts to stifle and harass scientists, reject scientific integrity in our federal agencies, and gut the role of science in shaping public policy. And we'll likely see more, including the expected executive orders about the Environmental Protection Agency.
The Union of Concerned Scientists is committed to monitoring and exposing attempts to manipulate science or censor federal scientists. That's why we created a tool for federal scientists or scientists working on federally supported research to share information securely and anonymously about any challenges they may face.
But our ability to share this tool with those who need it most can only go so far on our own-we need scientists and experts like you to help share this tool for scientists to communicate perceived or experienced political interference in their work. Help us make this tool widely available by sharing it publicly and directly with any relevant peers.
I am sharing sample language below to make sharing as easy as possible.
Thank you for helping to watchdog for science and scientific integrity. It's needed now more than ever.Sincerely,
Danielle Fox

Dear colleague,
I thought you would be interested in this new tool by the Union of Concerned Scientists which allows federal scientists or scientists working on federally supported projects to share information securely and anonymously about perceived or experienced censorship, manipulation, or political interference in science.
The tool and instructions on how scientists can securely share information can be found at: www.ucsusa.org/secureshare.
This blog post by Michael Halpern, deputy director of the Center for Science and Democracy at UCS, explains what types of actions could constitute politicization of science or a breach of scientific integrity, and what UCS does with the information it receives: http://blog.ucsusa.org/michael-halpern/one-way-you-can-help-fight-against-political-interference-in-science-tell-us-about-it.
I hope you find the tool useful and encourage you to pass it along to any appropriate peers.
Sincerely,
Your colleague
