Additional note about a Pinboard item. The link below indicates that the acid cloud in Oberhausen was a mixture of both sulphuric acid and hydrochloric acid, caused by unloading of the latter acid into a tank storing the former acid. Sulphuric acid by itself is not very volatile, but mixing it with much more volatile hydrochloric acid is definitely not recommended!
