Office of Public Affairs Dear Ralph, Chemistry Ambassador,
The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science reminds all scientists that the 2017 Flame Challenge-What is Energy?-is accepting entries through February 3. If you can answer the question in a way that an 11-year -old will understand, and do it in 300 words or less, please consider sending in your entry. Video format is another option. Details are below:
The annual Flame Challenge contest is part of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science's mission to help scientists communicate more effectively with the public. This international contest, judged by 11-year-olds, challenges scientists to answer complex scientific concepts in a way that is understandable and engaging.
We are currently looking for scientists around the world and of any discipline to submit entries here. Entries may be either written or visual and all guidelines can be found in the Survival Guide here. The winner will be awarded $1000 and receive a trip to NYC to be honored at the World Science Festival and meet Alan Alda.
Final deadline for entries is February 3, 2017. It is free for scientists to participate. To be eligible, scientists should be graduate students or professionals in a scientific field.
