I am pretty sure it’s been discussed here before in terms of ventilation shut-offs but what is the consensus on having electrical emergency shut-offs for laboratories? Our company is building a new lab and is asking my opinion. My gut says that if you shut off the ventilation then you would want to shut-off power too, to prevent any heated activities from continuing or any electrical sparks from igniting fumes that may accumulate but I didn’t know if there were any standards or regs to back me up.

 

I’d like to go into my meeting tomorrow with a little more than my gut feeling.
