What you’ve been told is almost certainly wrong. I’ve been with the USW for almost 40 years. A large majority of our members wear safety glasses. I have never heard of a prescription that could not be provided
in safety glasses. I suspect that the particular supplier can’t make them; others probably can.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Safety Glasses over prescription eyewear
Hi All:
A researcher has very thick prescription eyewear and has been told that the prescription can’t be produced in safety eyewear. Over spectacles eyewear make him nauseous.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
