As part of the ongoing collaboration between the ACS Division of Chemical Health and Safety and Division of Chemical Information, I am helping to organize a symposium for the spring national meeting of the ACS in San Francisco, California. The meeting will take place from April 2 to 6, 2017 (yes, 2017 is now in the near term!). This symposium is entitled:

Identifying and Assessing Sources of Chemical Health and Safety Information

As the Internet continues to evolve, an increasing number of sources of chemical safety information are becoming available. Thus, identifying and assessing the value of these sources in answering specific laboratory safety questions is becoming an increasing challenge. This session will involve suppliers and users of this information from a variety of perspectives (publishers, writers, lab workers, EHS support staff and librarians) discussing database features and user education that are necessary to address this challenge. It will also discuss new information sources from the ACS safety community, including the Hazard Assessment in Research Laboratories web site (http://acs.org/hazardassessment) and Guidelines for Chemical Laboratory Safety in Secondary Schools and Guidelines for Chemical Laboratory Safety in Academic Institutions.

The submission date is the end of October so please consider this opportunity this week. If you have any questions about the submission process, please contact me.

Thanks for any feedback on this.
