Hi Ralph,

Our students who perform BSL-2 research (which requires an approved protocol from our IBC, whether or not rDNA is involved) are required to read the appropriate sections of the BMBL, which is pretty much the biosafety bible. It's been a while since I was 20, but I think it's pretty clear in terms of practices...it does contain information about BSL-3 and BSL-4 practices, but each BSL level is discussed separately...

Also, the American Society for Microbiology put out teaching lab guidelines which although targeted to faculty/staff, should still be quite useful to inform students about best practices...

I'm thinking primarily of students who will be working with BSL 1 and BSL 2 materials.
