The funnel apparatus does not prevent spills if the waste container is accidentally knocked over onto its side. The waste system must be a closed system.
N.B.: I just asked my lab staff to test the vented caps (I was able to get a few sample caps - I really don't want to buy 1000 at a time) for the 4L bottles by filling the bottle with water and turning it upside down. They don't leak! They're perfect for waste that has to off-gas in a 4L bottle.
Now I need to find 5-gallon plastic waste containers with vented lids.
