In our lab we are following the ASTM method D1252-88, Standard Test Methods for Chemical Oxygen Demand in wastewater and seawater. The problem is the concentration of the chloride in seawater which reach around 35000 mg/l. This high chloride value interfere with the colorimetric method. We tried Correlate with TOC value but unfortunately the TOC value is very low. Is there any other way to determine the COD in the high chloride samples.
Please note the COD is low so we can't dilute the samples.
