One of our facilities that engages in rather unique research with a number of work groups is interested in developing a mentorship program wherein the senior project scientists/managers would provide training and guidance to new scientists
and users of the facility. We wish to assist them and are looking for something more structured than the more individual PI mentoring of lab workers that we promote and expect. I note that there is a DOW video on Lab Safety Mentoring but it is not a developed
program. Other mentoring programs I can find, for example at UCSF, are not specific to improving safety, and it is difficult to tell how much they even involve safety as part of the information imparted to junior scientists. Does anyone have a model, or
even a checklist, for such a program?
Thanks for any information you may have.
