Washington, DC, January 19, 2016 - The U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) will hold a public business meeting on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, to discuss ongoing investigations and operational activities, the status of the fiscal year 2016 Action Plan, and agency deployment procedures.

The meeting will be held at the CSB's offices located at 1750 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Suite 910, Washington, DC, 20009 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

An opportunity for public comments from audience members and phone participants will be provided.

CSB Chairperson Vanessa Allen Sutherland said, "It has been an extremely busy and productive few months at the CSB. We are looking forward to discussing our planned actions for 2016 and outlining priorities."

The CSB is an independent federal agency charged with investigating industrial chemical accidents. The agency's board members are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. CSB investigations look into all aspects of chemical accidents, including physical causes such as equipment failure as well as inadequacies in regulations, industry standards, and safety management systems.

The Board does not issue citations or fines but does make safety recommendations to plants, industry organizations, labor groups, and regulatory agencies such as OSHA and EPA.
