Oversights, once recognized, cannot be left standing on the basis that someone had a right initially to nominate someone. That's bizarre.

It is good to know exactly how this situation arose, in case we want to
avoid it in the future. Perhaps it is more productive to discuss what
do we do now. What do the rules allow? It is possible to re-examine
the nomination? And what do the Chemistry Section officers want to
do? As a council delegate from the Chemistry Section, I would be happy
to participate in such a discussion.
