Hi Pete:
Rather than try to create a campus-wide policy or similar, we've developed a performance-oriented, activity-based template. Here's the page:
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__ehs.ucdavis.edu_ps_cls_sop&d=BQIGaQ&c=lb62iw4YL4RFalcE2hQUQealT9-RXrryqt9KZX2qu2s&r=meWM1Buqv4IQ27AlK1OJRjcQl09S1Zta6YXKalY_Io0&m=vM0eQ_dVi__hHpN3HFLingVk-8vT4Log4ho9nN5vQFk&s=IAb2lO1A5bji-CssctJRUswriSWmfH_tua4Fqyj6dlc&e= It's the last document in the list.
Within the template, there are some campus-wide restrictions you can see. The Chemistry Department faculty were required to create a working alone SOP (because they're special) and it's been strongly recommended for other departments.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Debbie

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Working alone
Hi everyone, what policies do your institutions have regarding working alone and/or on nights and weekends? Is your policy the same for everyone, or does it treat professors, grad students, and undergrads differently?
Thanks,
