The above link is from Uvex and has some good information on the standard. Like the new designations for dust and chemical splash. Which may be better suited for chemistry laboratories.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] ANSI eyeware designations

I have a question from a faculty member here:
===
So what is the legal designation for students in chemistry labs for safety glasses. I thought it was ANSI Z87.1, however the ones the Lyceum sells are Z87+; and I have a student wants to know if just Z87 is legal.
===
My interpretation based on the information I see on the web is that Z87.1 is the designation of the standard and Z87 on the glasses indicate that they are tested for impact protection and Z87+ protects for higher impact. Is that correct?

Thanks for any help with this.
