Plan, establish, implement, and maintain safety and health programs most of which are mandated by the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and/or Wyoming Worker Safety.
Perform on-site inspections for safe work practices, required personal protective equipment, and regulatory
compliance, audit physical conditions, including ergonomics. Provide recommendations on the control of identified hazards, including but not limited to formaldehyde, asbestos, lead, mold, dangerous or specialized equipment, and indoor air quality concerns.
Manage the Respiratory Protection Program, including fit testing, record keeping, inventory management and equipment maintenance. Assist with inventory management of safety/industrial hygiene equipment and supplies, including maintenance and calibration as
needed.
Develop and conduct employee training in various formats (online, classroom, etc.) in the areas of occupational
health and safety. Perform team teaching for Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout), Electrical Safety, Hot Work, Asbestos, Lift usage, Confined Space Entry and Shop Safety Programs. Work with departments to promote injury prevention, including safety
coordinator program.
Assist other Risk & Safety professionals and perform tasks necessary to fulfill the UW Mission, or other
duties as assigned. Share 24/7 emergency contact duties. Respond to and/or provide advice during emergency situations involving hazards (chemical, physical). Assist with or prepare reports as required.
Stay current on and maintain recordkeeping for federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance.
Work with individual departments to follow up on accidents and perform accident/incident investigations
as needed. Provide safety related consultation.
