Thanks, Dave, for the notice of the CPT update and your thoughts on the topic. I know that you have been watching this process carefully as it's developed and agree there are continuing opportunities for improvement in the next go round.

With regard to your point that
>Safety is not just a ‰??student skill‰?? but encompasses an entire sub-discipline of chemistry that includes models/theories and a host of information and concepts that well exceeds the ability (skill) to clean up a spill or put out small fire. And if you immediately think that ‰??cleaning up a spill‰?? or ‰??putting out a fire‰?? is not a trivial skill but rather are actions that require thought and knowledge to accomplish safely, then you know what I mean.

I just thought I would add the Glenn Seaborg had the same insight when he led the Plutonium work as part of the Manhattan Project and it was his recognition and support of this idea that led to establishment of DCHAS when he was president of the ACS. It's good to see the Society continuing to move in this direction.
