Just to add to what Jeff Tenney said. Demurrage charges over time will overwhelm to cost of simply returning the cylinders for new product.

Even though the material may not have a shelf-life, compressed gas cylinders onsite for a few years should be a concern. “Most” cylinders need to be retested every 5 years. We date cylinders when they arrive and try to make sure they are used or returned yearly.

Has anyone ever heard of a limited shelf-life for cylinders of nitrogen dioxide or nitric oxide?
Both are toxic oxidizers.
