AirLiquide provide the following advice on 9-16-08:
“Nitric Oxide – no certified shelf life for high purity materials, NO starts to degrade soon after it is filled into the cylinder. Lower grade material may be certified with a shelf-life. This is costly, though,
as the cylinder is filled with high purity material and allowed to degrade over time. The actual shelf life is dictated by the guaranteed purity specification and is negotiated at the time of purchase.”
“Nitrogen dioxide – this is a material that is not typically available. I believe small quantities have been sold in lecture bottles with no shelf life guarantee.”

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide cylinders
Greetings listers,
Has anyone ever heard of a limited shelf-life for cylinders of nitrogen dioxide or nitric oxide?
Both are toxic oxidizers..
Many thanks,
Chris
