Daniel,
Check with the manufacturer for intrinsic safety of the pump.
If it is not rated for the environment, it should not be permitted, unless the lab area electrical classification can be changed.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Insulin pump in electrically rated area in laboratory
Hi All,
We have a student in our senior unit operations lab that has an insulin pump.
We have an electrically rated area in the lab that is rated at Class 1 Div 2 Group D.
The insulin pump does not say it is Class 1 div 2 group D rated.
Can he go in lab? Anyone run into this issue?
