I've had many inquiries about the distance participation opportunities for the fume hood workshop I announced yesterday (see http://acsdchas.wordpress.com/fume-hood-design-workshop/ for details).

One of the key goals of the workshop is to bring together 4 stakeholder groups to discuss fume hood design concerns:
- laboratory designers
- laboratory facility operators
- laboratory support staff, especially EHS professionals and
- laboratory workers.
In order to maintain manageable discussions, the on site registration will be limited to 40 people. We are hoping that people at off site locations will be able to host similar discussions with stakeholders on their campuses relative to the topics raised.

We are still figuring out the specifics, but conceptually at this point, we will provide on line access (webinar-style) to the two plenary sessions of the workshop. The morning session will consist of several presentations by national experts on the topics raised, which will be broadcast on the web. Then there will be small group discussions. In the afternoon, there will be plenary discussions with report backs from the small groups. This section will also be available on line and people that host discussions on these topics at their campus will be able to contribute to.

Details of the web conference portion of the meeting will be available in early October. People who have expressed interest in the distance participation portion of the workshop will be provided with those details.
