HAZARDOUS MATERIAL TECHNICIAN

The Hazardous Material Technician within the Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for supporting the chemical management system, including data input for the web-based hazardous materials inventory control system for chemicals, radionuclides and biological materials. This position will support the collection and shipment of hazardous materials in accordance with state and federal requirements. The incumbent will be involved in routine laboratory inspections; working at the new Integrated Science Complex (ISC) loading dock; maintaining the supplies and equipment in the ISC waste rooms; and providing other EHS support services to laboratories campus wide.

A Bachelor?s Degree is required and a minimum of three-five years of experience in the handling of hazardous materials. Experience in a laboratory environment preferred. Ability to lift and move heavy containers, packages or drums (up to 50 pounds) may be required Occasional use of level C chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection required. Ability to obtain Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) is required.

The normal hiring range: $46,434 - $50,787.
