Just type the headline into google and up she comes.  Only takes a minute so for those stories I want to write on, it's not much of a deterrent.
And it's better because all the versions and other similar coverages of the same incident also come up.  That's how I discovered the really interesting part of the recent fire call at AkzoNobel Coatings in Ohio.

Only one of the earliest versions of that story included the information that strontium chromate is mixed with their yellow metal corrosion-inhibiting coatings.  Hmmm. Used to be lead chromate.   TLV-TWA for lead is 0.05 mg/m3.  TLV-TWA for chrome VI is 0.012 mg/m3.  But the TLV-TWA for strontium chromate is 0.0005 mg/m3.  I now ain't letting the scenic artists scrape down any yellow metal coating paints that test lead-free until they have also been tested for strontium chromate.

> Why don't these notes include the hyperlinks to the news articles anymore? That used to be very helpful to get more info on stories of interest.. Unfortunately, over the last 6 months, spam filters have been cracking down on e-mails with lots of URLs in them. On some days, my original e-mail with the URLs in them doesn't even make it to the LISTSERV program, much less get distributed to the list to be rejected by Yahoo, etc... Anyway, links to all of the stories can be found at https://pinboard.in/u:dchas which is the source of the contents of the e-mail digest. Thanks for asking; I suspect others were wondering the same thing... - Ralph Ralph Stuart, CIH CCHO Chemical Hygiene Officer Department of Environmental Health and Safety Cornell University Ithaca, NY 14850 rstuart**At_Symbol_Here**cornell.edu
