The right northbound lane of Interstate 15 south of Inkom was closed for about an hour Monday afternoon as Pocatello and Inkom firefighters cleaned up a magnesium chloride spill.
The 12:30 p.m. incident occurred when the tanker truck carrying the toxic chemical suffered a tire blowout.
A piece of the shredded tire struck the tank carrying the magnesium chloride, causing the liquid chemical to leak onto the interstate.
Magnesium chloride is used to de-ice roads.

HAZMAT CREWS CALLED TO ACID SPILL IN SW OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY - Police and Hazardous Materials crews are heading to the scene of a hydrochloric acid spill in southwest Oklahoma City that has injured at least one person.
Authorities have closed down SW 15th St. from Agnew to May Ave. while emergency crews work the scene.
No evacuations have been ordered at this time. Police tell News 9 the leak stems from a rail car in the area. It is unclear how the victim came in contact with the acid. That person?s identity and condition has not been released.

WORKER HURT IN CHEMICAL LEAK INSIDE SCHOOL

A maintenance worker is recovering after a chemical leak led to a hazmat situation at a Northeast Philadelphia high school.
Officials say they received a call reporting a chemical leak at the Benjamin Rush School on the 11000 block of Knights Road at 7:12 p.m. on Tuesday. When crews arrived, they discovered that there was a release of freon inside the school basement. Freon is a cooling agent often used in air conditioners.
"What we found in the basement was a mechanical failure," said Philadelphia Fire Deputy Commissioner Jesse Wilson. "That mechanical failure caused a 600-pound vessel of freon, typical freon that you can buy in a Pep Boys or any place like that."
A Hazmat situation was declared at 7:29 p.m. Officials say a maintenance worker was injured during the incident. He was taken to Aria-Torresdale Hospital, treated for dizziness and is currently in stable condition.

SICKNESS AT OSKAR BLUES UNDER INVESTIGATION

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - A possible hot water heater malfunction sickened two dozen employees at the Oskar Blues restaurant in Longmont Sunday night.
Seventeen people were treated at local hospitals and released. Eight were critically exposed, police said. A decontamination tent was set up at the scene. No patrons were sickened.
The fire department initially believed a refrigerant leak caused the sickness at Oskar Blues Home Made Liquids & Solids but later shifted focus to a hot water heater.
