We have had occupancy sensors in most Cornell labs for years (before I got here). As with any ventilation control system element, they have to be tuned for the real world. I haven't heard concerns expressed about their operation in the three years here I've been here, perhaps because our Facilities Department has an aggressive commissioning program for building control systems that tracks the various elements carefully. If a Facilities group is not used to these, it may take some practice to maintain them for your specific situation.
