Assuming there is no problem using open flames in the area, I would
recommend using a portable laboratory burner of the type sold by Flinn
Scientific (catalog no AP1032)
http://www.flinnsci.com/store/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=14017
and also sold by other vendors. This is a stable butane burner with a ring
to adjust the air flow mixing with the gas and with a safety plate to prevent
drips onto the butane canister. I have used these successfully for over 30
years.

Re: [DCHAS-L] propane camping burners
I work in a charter high school and we are in a temporary school
building with out any gas connection in the lab.
I would like to know is it ok to use propane camping burners for
labs involving flames.(flame test).Any legal issues??
I had used small portable burners in the past ,but it is running out
quick. Any help appreciated.
