Mel, (and the rest of the list…),
Funny you should ask… Yes SACL is being updated. It is a “best seller” published by the ACS under the auspices of the Committee on Chemical Safety. The CCS will be revising this booklet in the coming year.
It is a group effort, and we expect a publication date of early 2015. It will surely have the GHS updates you mention along with other appropriate updates in the world of chemical safety (including, we expect, an expanded section on “safety culture”). I
am organizing this revision.
In fact, your email prompts me to ask the D-CHAS listserve folks for feedback about SACL. If anyone has feedback about things that they like, or dislike, or about the booklet or if you otherwise have suggestions
for topics, please send them to me – privately, unless you wish to raise a question for the group to prompt some discussion. (My email:

It occurs to me…simply because I am giving so many GHS HazCom training sessions lately, that the ACS publication “Safety in Academic Chemistry Laboratories, Vol.. 1” (the little blue book as I call it) needs to
be updated on the MSDS and labeling sections. Any idea if there is a plan for this? Wouldn’t want to be giving schools outdated info while we’re busy improving lab safety in academia.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] DCHAS and CCS "Virtual Booth"
Greetings-
The Division of Chemical Health and Safety and the Committee on Chemical Safety sponsored an exposition booth during the recent ACS national meeting. A variety of information was made available to those who stopped by the booth in
the form of handouts and ACS publications. For those division members who were not able to make it to the national meeting, we’ve created a ‘virtual booth’ with links to a variety of free safety publications and other information. This can be found at the
DCHAS Dropbox via the following link: http://goo.gl/fOnRPT
We hope that you find this informational useful. If there are other items that you would like to see included in the virtual and/or physical booth, please contact me.
Thanks,
