Because benzene is already quite flammable, I didn’t worry about adding a little something else, so my suggestion is
2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin or TCDD.

If you are wanting to avoid flammable substances, then your molecule will need to be a halocarbon – you might try carbon tetrachloride, hexachloroethane, dichloromethane, any of the di- or tetra-chloro
ethylenes, etc – basically any organic molecule in which the number of F, Cl, Br or I atoms is equal to or larger than the number of H atoms.

I need the collective wisdom of the group…
I’m trying to think of any chemical that is soluble in benzene and has NO significant hazardous characteristics other than toxicity (i.e.,
not flammable, corrosive, water-reactive, etc.). However, the more toxic it is, the better…
I do not want the actual chemical – just the name. I’m trying to create a hypothetical “what-if” scenario for an upcoming discussion about responding to chemical spills in a laboratory.
