Kyle,
An explosion proof refrigerator is only explosion proof when hard-wired into an explosion proof room. Lights, switches, NMR's, all equipment present in the room.... all would have to be explosion proof too, or you are just wasting a lot of money on a fancy fridge.

We have an area near our new NMR where we will be storing deuterated organic solvents. I have convinced my colleague who is in charge of the NMR that we can't use a simple dorm fridge for storing the small volumes of solvents. But I would love to follow up with him on any iinfo all of you could provide about inexpensive small (5 cu ft) flammable storage refrigerators or explosion proof fridges.
Grateful for any help,
Kyle Strode
