Thanks to everyone who responded to my question about terminology during an incident investigation. I should clarify that the purpose of this question was to help write a Standard Operating Procedure for investigating not only injuries, but near misses, so there may not be a victim involved.
In the real world, we will refer to the persons involved by their lab title, but in writing the general procedure, it seems helpful to differentiate roles based on how involved people are in the event - people directly involved in the incident have a separate role from witnesses. I agree that "person involved" is possibly the best way to describe this.
Thanks again to everyone for their thoughts on this.
