Part of the M62 motorway in East Yorkshire was closed for a second night because of a chemical spillage.
A tanker overturned on Friday evening between junction 34 near Selby and junction 35 near Goole.
A 300m (980ft) cordon was put in place around the scene, which the fire service said was the "biggest chemical spill in the region for a decade".
The Highways Agency said the tanker was leaking a "toxic and flammable chemical". The road has now reopened.

Five Australia Post employees have been taken to hospital after being exposed to an unknown chemical, believed to be acid, at a package sorting facility in Sydney's north.
One worker suffered burns to his hands after a liquid spilled from a three-kilogram satchel that had been sent through the mail to the Frenchs Forest Delivery Centre just after 8am on Monday.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said firefighters, including a hazmat unit, responded to a triple-0 call to the Rodborough Road facility where a number of people had been exposed to the liquid.

One Australia Post worker had removed the satchel from the building to prevent other workers being exposed. That person is then believed to have taken himself to Manly Hospital for treatment of burns to his hands.
He had been isolated in Manly Hospital until the liquid chemical was identified, the Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said.
The substance is believed to be acid, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The Abilene Fire Department's Hazmat unit was called in after a hundred gallons of diesel fuel spilled early Sunday morning.
A tanker truck leaked the fuel into the parking lot of the Best Western on Ridgemont Dr. overnight, according to AFD's Public Information Officer, Greg Goettsch.
The driver was hauling drums from South Dakota to Austin and stopped in Abilene for the night.
Early Sunday morning, officials noticed one of the barrels was leaking and had spilled approximately 100 gallons of diesel.

LA PORTE, Texas (KRPC) Ñ Investigators are trying to determine what caused a deadly fire and explosion at a chemical plant in Texas Saturday morning.
The blast rocked the southeastern Texas city of La Porte Saturday around 8 a.m.
The blast blew apart a building at the Air Liquide cylinder plant leaving a smoking hole in the ground.
An Air Liquide spokesperson said 20 employees were inside when the blast occurred.
One person was unaccounted for and another worker was airlifted to hospital with serious burn injuries.
Investigators said 30-year-old Javier Ortiz, an Air Liquide technician, was pulled from the debris about 12 after the blast.
City officials said that residents were never in any danger from the plant that mixes nitrogen and carbon dioxide.

HAZARDOUS 1600 POUND BATTERY ACID SPILL ON WYOMING STREET

On February 8, 2013, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) responded to a hazardous materials leak at the intersection of Wyoming Street and Washington Street in Pleasanton... Upon arrival, the LPFD crew found a mid-size delivery truck that was carrying an approximately 1600 lb. commercial battery that had fallen over during its transport and was leaking battery acid.
First arriving firefighters created a dam to prevent the acid from contaminating the storm drain and requested the Battalion Chief and Hazardous Materials unit to respond to the scene. Firefighters made a hazardous materials entry into the truck to stop the active leak by repositioning the battery. The entry was a "Level B" entry where firefighters wear self contained breathing apparatus, a chemical resistant splash suit, rubber boots and rubber gloves. The LPFD was able to contain the leak to the truck and the adjacent gutter. Wyoming Street was closed between Washington Street and Utah Street for approximately 45 minutes while fire crews made the hazardous materials entry.
Contact was made with the battery and the truck owners at the scene, and a private hazardous materials clean-up contractor from Oakland was requested by the owners to complete the clean up and handle the disposal. Fire crews remained on scene until their arrival at 7:00 p.m.

An canister found in a ditch and leaking an unknown gas closed 264 Street for a possible Hazmat situation on Friday morning.
The bottle had fallen off a truck and then was run over by a car which sent the container into a ditch leaking gas into the air.
"We shut the road down as a precaution until we knew what we were dealing with," Township district fire chief Kevin Anderson.
Firefighters quickly identified the gas to be compressed oxygen. The road was re-opened and the canister was expected to be picked up, said Anderson.

WHAT FACULTY INTERVIEWS REVEAL ABOUT MEANINGFUL LEARNING IN THE UNDERGRADUATE CHEMISTRY LABORATORY
http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ed300384r
Tags: laboratory, discovery, response
Forty chemistry faculty from American Chemical Society-approved departments were interviewed to determine their goals for undergraduate chemistry laboratory. Faculty were stratified by type of institution, departmental success with regard to National Science Foundation funding for laboratory reform, and level of laboratory course. Interview transcripts that were coded and analyzed using the lens of meaningful learning reveal the importance of cognitive and psychomotor goals relative to affective learning, particularly in organic chemistry and upper-division chemistry laboratory courses. This research reveals that the undergraduate chemistry laboratory offers multiple opportunities for faculty to articulate learning goals across the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Furthermore, these goals are accessible across the undergraduate chemistry curriculum from general chemistry through organic chemistry and into a wide array of upper-division laboratories. In this stu!
dy, faculty showed a decreasing emphasis on affective goals in organic chemistry and upper-division courses. Whether affective goals should be a part of the organic and upper-division chemistry curriculum remains a question for faculty to discuss.
