Hi Kyle - We looked at about 6 systems when we were hunting for a system.  We ended up going with Sivco (Chematix).  This was partly cost, partly what they offered.  As I recall, the ones that we reviewed ranged from $18,000 to $150,000.  Some were one time costs, some were annual subscriptions.  None of them were perfect.  We are fairly happy with the Chematix.  It does take time to populate the CAD (chemical database).  Uploads from excel are easy.  We integrated MSDS Online with Chematix.  I think that CISPro (ChemSW) has their own MSDS links.  I am going on memories that are 4+ years old so factor that in.

For such a small college, it may not be worth the cost.

Sivco is at http://www.chematix.com/
Cispro is at http://www.chemsw.com/

We are using a self-built Excel spreadsheet that is terrible.  As a smallish private college with 1500 students, we have only around 1800 chemical entries, and one main storage location along with four minor locations.

Two questions:

How much does this commercial system cost?

Does anyone have a link to the company’s website?

I’m very interested in learning more.

Ann-Marie,

We’ve been using the software for about six years and are very happy with it.  The reports are very flexible and easy to create.

The software support is fantastic!

Dear Members,

We are reviewing the ChemSW  CISPro Inventory system for our University.

We would like some input (pro & cons) from anyone using this system.

Thanks for your help,
