BURNS, Ore. -- State police say all it took was a traffic stop near Burns, Ore., to find a meth lab on the move.
"Two people were arrested Saturday afternoon following a traffic stop by Hines Police Department and Harney County Sheriff's Office on Highway 20 on the west end of Burns -- after a traffic complaint led to the discovery of a small, dismantled methamphetamine lab inside a commercial truck," Oregon State Police reported Sunday.
"At both agencies' request, the Oregon State Police (OSP) Drug Enforcement Section sent members from the statewide Clandestine Lab Response Team to assist with the investigation and coordinate removal of lab items."

Two workers died and nine others fainted on Saturday after they inhaled poisonous gas at a lead plant owned by Hindustan Zinc in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, police said.
Enraged over the incident, workers protested outside the plant and burnt three vehicles including a police van and vandalised property, SP Rajsamand Rahul Katkey said. They also pelted stones at police leaving two policemen injured.
Katkey said some poisonous gas leaked out leaving Devi Lal and Madhav, both aged around 35 years, dead. The cause of the leakage was not known, he said.
Nine others fainted and were hospitalised in Udaipur where their condition is stated to be stable.
"The incident happened at a furnace at Dariba Lead plant of Hindustan Zinc which was under maintenance shut-down and there was a suspected gas leakage at about 1 PM from the system," Hindustan Zinc said in a statement.
"This unfortunate incident also led to two fatalities," it said, adding six workers had fainted but later all of them were declared out of danger.
The company has instituted an internal inquiry into the incident and said it would ensure that such incidents do not recur. It also said families of the deceased would be suitably compensated.
"Additional force was rushed to the spot to control the situation. The agitating mob was dispersed and the law and order is now under control," the SP said, adding, cases would be lodged against the agitating employees.

CHICAGO Ñ By the time Carlos Centeno arrived at the Loyola University Hospital Burn Center, more than 98 minutes had elapsed since his head, torso, arms and legs had been scalded by a 185-degree solution of water and citric acid inside a factory on this city's southwestern edge.
The laborer, assigned to the plant that afternoon in November 2011 by a temporary staffing agency, was showered with the solution after it erupted from the open hatch of a 500-gallon chemical tank he was cleaning. Factory bosses, federal investigators would later contend, refused to call an ambulance as he awaited help, shirtless and screaming. He arrived at Loyola only after first being driven to a clinic by a co-worker.
At admission Centeno had burns over 80 percent of his body and suffered a pain level of 10 on a scale of 10, medical records show. Clad in a T-shirt, he wore no protective gear other than rubber boots and latex gloves in the factory, which makes household and personal-care products.

A few homes near Fort Lauderdale were evacuated after a neighbor opened a steel tank that leaked chlorine and emitted a strong smell of it, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred in the 200 block of Northwest 31 Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. It caused north and southbound traffic to be rerouted along 31st Avenue between Broward and Sistrunk boulevards.
A neighbor who deals in scrap metal opened a tank that contained the chlorine and had a minor leak, the Sheriff's Office said.
The odor was strong enough to cause neighboring homes to be evacuated. No one was injured, the Sheriff's Office said.

A fire at a hazardous materials recycling plant in El Dorado, Ark., has prompted an evacuation.
The Tuesday fire resulted in road closures, and the Union County Sheriff's Department also had to evacuate.
The fire is at a Clean Harbors Recycling plant. Little Rock television station KTHV reports the plant processes hazardous materials for disposal.
Little Rock television station KATV reports that officials from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management say the company stores chlorine at the site of the blaze.
The fire started shortly after 4 p.m. The Ruddell Acres neighborhood is included in the evacuation area.

Friday afternoon, Framingham Fire Department responded to a possible hazardous materials incident at MCI Framingham.
The multi-hour investigation determined a red, powdery substance found at MCI-Framingham's pre-release center's mail room was not hazardous nor a threat but a a mixture of flour, sugar and salt and determined to be a crushed holiday sweet mailed to one of the inmates from her daughter, explainedFramingham Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Burns.
As workers at the mail room at MCI-Framingham's pre-release center discovered the red powdery substance mailed to an inmate they followed protocols and called the Framingham Fire Department, said Burns.

BRANCHBURG Ñ A Meister Avenue chemical plant where a 55-gallon drum caught fire last week investigated the incident and determined that the community was never in any danger, according to company officials.
....At about 3:40 p.m. on Dec. 28, Voltaix employees were forced to evacuate the plant because of a working fire in a drum barrel, according to North Branch Volunteer Fire Dept. Chief David Hickson.
Hickson said one of the chemicals involved was "water reactive," which meant that water thrown onto the fire would actually feed the fire instead of extinguishing it, so fire officials monitored the fire remotely until it self-extinguished.
Wilkinson said the fire started after an employee started cleaning a piece of duct work that had built up material in it that caught on fire when it was exposed to air.
"We don't know exactly what happened, but we did stop all production when it happened, because we needed to find out the root cause before we could continue," he said.
Wilkinson said the elbow pipe that the employee was cleaning likely had a little pocket of Silane, or SiH2 residual, which burns spontaneously with air.

LAB SAFETY IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Scientists may be overestimating the safety of their laboratories, according to early analysis of an international survey of attitudes and practices among researchers.
Of the 2,400 people who responded, 86 percent said they think their labs are safe places to work. But just under half had suffered injuries in the lab, ranging from monkey scratches and snakes bites to chemical inhalation. Most common were minor injuries, but 30 percent of respondents said they had seen at least one "major" lab injury. What's more, around 25 percent said they had experienced injuries that they did not report, and only 60 percent said they had received safety training on specific hazards or agents they work with.
The study was commissioned by the Center for Lab Safety at

MAN KILLED IN EXPLOSION AT CRAIG-AREA DRILLING SITE

A Craig man was killed this morning when a 300-barrel storage tank exploded at an oil and gas development site in Moffat County as workers there were using a propane heating device to thaw valves.
Jon Herod, 49, was killed in the incident at an Axia Energy site on Moffat County Road 103 about six miles north of Craig around 10:30 a.m.
The Moffat County Sheriff's Office said in a new release that investigators were told that employees from Herod Industries were trying to load some produced water into a tank from a hydraulic fracturing operation. But the valves were frozen, an Axia Energy onsite supervisor told authorities.
The employees then tried heating the valves with the propane device, which is believed to have caused the explosion. While an investigation continues, the sheriff's office said the death is considered accidental and no foul play is suspected.
