To echo the others, WATER.

Two short items:

Someone on this listserv once said, “Don’t do chemistry on your skin” (I paraphrase). Well said.

The other is, early in my chemistry career, I was curious about emergency response to chemical spills on people. I bought a book called “First Aid for Chemical Spills” or something like that. Basically, it said flush with water for everything (it was a slim volume). But I’ll never forget the section on NaH. It said, (again paraphrased), “…flush with water, don't worry, the flames will die down…”.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] First Aid Kit for Acid

Hello,

We mainly use Sulfuric acid and Nitric acid in our lab.  Is there a first aid kit designed for acid that you could recommend?

Thanks,

Wayne
