Yes! Emergency showers are rarely used here,especially since we install eyewash/deluge hoses at every sink that can beused for the smaller incidental spills. However, we have had multiple times in the past few years where people refused to use a shower because of privacy concerns. In our consideration, we also realized gone are the days of small lab rooms. We now live in a world of large open labs. Since privacy curtains are easy to install, cheap, and do increase the likelihood of someone using the shower, we now install them with each new shower. Our project managers and architects were supportive, but wanted them to have a recess point to be aesthetically acceptable.

Does anyone on the list have experience or information about using curtains on safety showers? 

Recently we had an employee exposure incident that, thankfully, did not turn out to be major, but did not go according to plan.  Employees have requested to have curtains on the showers so they will feel more comfortable using the shower in an emergency – which I know should not be the point.  Someone found a vendor selling a curtain.  I want to address the employee concerns, but I do not want to create unreasonable expectations or more hazards.

Any advice appreciated, because right now I really want to scold someone who should know better.
