We have also gone with the ACS recommendation, working with 24 to allow pairing, for general and organic labs. Our labs are set up to allow for that number, with each pair of organic students having both table space and a hood while gen chem students share a hood between 2 pair. I would love to cut organic down but don't have the personnel to teach it. Our upper division courses have small enrollments, so they're no problem.
