I have thankfully not had a student wearing a full burka, but to be
honest safety issues should preclude that in lab. Visibility would be
a real issue, and there is simply too much cloth loose which can knock
over containers, contact chemicals, or catch on fire. We do have
students wearing hijabs (head scarves) and have them tuck the scarf
under the neck of their clothing. That's what we used to do with nuns
in habits. Perhaps the student could use the hijab during lab rather
than the burka.
