Beth,  That's why I used the word "most" rather than "all."   If it doesn't apply to you, don't take it personally.  But the numbers of students with the background I described are significant.

And "most" of these young people don't learn safety in college.  That's why Mike from the Steel Worker's union and I from a theatrical union, have to train all new members who come from a college background.  "Most" of these trainees need to start their training from the basics because they have very little awareness of safety  and no proper work habits.

Excuse me, but I was raised by a single working mother who taught me about safety every day. Both my parents taught me that I was personally responsible for my actions &my safety. My parents married in college &grew in different directions between their 20s &their 30s. Risk assessment wouldn't have fixed that.
