Is it clear in your job descriptions & recruiting materials th at writing is an ‘essential’ not an ‘optional’ skil l? If more managers made that clear, perhaps it would filter down to studen ts.... maybe....
Long term, I su spect you can’t do better than good reading, a will to learn, and lot s of practice. Short term, it helps to have a rule such as: NEVER use or se nd the first draft.

In my field, our final prod uct is a written report. Some employees struggle with report writing and never seem to improve. It's a frustrating loss of time and effort . Has anyone had success at improving technical writing classes, semi nars, or other alternatives? Thanks for your suggestions.< /span>
