TULSA - Two people were arrested Sunday morning in connection to a meth lab that was found at an apartment complex.

Around 12:30 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute call near 33rd and Yale.

When they arrived, officers found a meth lab in the apartment's community laundry room.

Hazmat crews were on scene to clean up the lab

An early morning fire at a Kilgore motel resulted three arrests Wednesday after charred evidence revealed a methamphetamine lab and counterfeiting equipment.

Emergency workers responded to the America=92s Best Value Inn and Suites, located at 3298 U.S. Highway 259, where reports indicated a room caught on fire.

=93After the hotel was evacuated and the fire extinguished within the room, the cause of the fire was soon discovered to be a methamphetamine lab,=94 Police Lt. Roman Roberson said in a press statement.

Investigators recovered approximately four grams of methamphetamine along with laboratory equipment and chemicals commonly used for manufacturing the drug.

Firefighters today contained a chemical spill in the Hastings suburb of Flaxmere which had the potential to kill animal and marine life.

Fire Service Hastings Senior Station Officer Bruno Saathof told NZPA a Cropliner spraying unit with a full tank of insecticide was being towed by a tractor between two orchards when the towbar broke about 11am.

The insecticide was extremely toxic to animal and marine life and 150 litres of the 2000 litre load spilled.

Greensboro, NC=97A flash fire at a Sherwin-Williams plant left one worker with burns on his face and arms. The industrial accident occurred at around 7:14 a.m., at the plant located at 113 Stage Coach Trail, as reported by the Greensboro News-Record.
According to the Greensboro Fire Department, they believe methyl ethyl ketone vapors ignited, causing the flash fire. The chemical which caught fire is also known a butanone, an industrial solvent.
Responding emergency crews rushed the worker, who remains unidentified, to Moses Cone Hospital for treatment of minor burns to his arms and face. No other injuries were reported and there was no reported damage to the building.

West Bainbridge Elementary School was evacuated near the end of the school day on Friday due to a small chemical spill inside, according to Bainbridge Public Safety.

The Bainbridge-Decatur County Hazardous Materials Response Team, led by BPS Assistant Fire Chief Doyle Welch, responded to the school around 3 p.m. Friday.

The spill happened inside a classroom and was relatively minor, BPS Fire Chief Dennis Mock said. However, students and teachers were evacuated out of precaution, as custodians had applied cleaning chemicals on top of the spill.

An ambulance was called to the scene to treat two people who had been exposed to the chemical spill, Chief Mock said. A female teacher was taken to the emergency room at Memorial Hospital with a complaint of breathing trouble, while a student was treated at the scene by EMS and released, Mock said.

PEORIA - A Department of Public Safety officer following a truck pulling two trailers sees it lose control and roll Thursday night near the Loop 101 and Northern in Peoria.

DPS officers said after the truck rolled, gas inside the second trailer started spilling out.

The driver told police there were 100 gallons of fuel in the trailer for ATVs.

The driver was headed to the Dunes in California and was not seriously hurt.

The road had to be shut down while firefighters cleaned up the mess.

Early reports of the fuel igniting were incorrect, but DPS was concerned about that happening and called Hazmat to the scene.

Tulsa fire received a call around 7 a.m. this morning about a grass fire located at 3319 W. 39th St.  When crews arrived, they found a brush fire caused by several active meth labs found in a wooded area.

 

TFD has called Hazmat out to the scene. 

 

Crews say there are several active labs, with meth making materials in several locations spread out around the area.

 

Investigators have no suspects as nobody was out there when they arrived.

 

The brush fire is under control.

Both directions of I-71 in Delaware County reopened Thursday afternoon after a deputy stopped a vehicle suspected of containing chemicals used to make illegal drugs.

The interstate was closed between Gemni Parkway and Routes 36/37 for more than three hours before opening shortly after 4 p.m.

A Delaware County deputy sheriff stopped the vehicle and noticed an odor.

Three Delaware County deputies and two people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to investigators.

Hazmat personnel initially thought they were dealing with anhydrus ammonia, a chemical used as a fertilizer by farmers. It's also an ingredient used to manufacture meth.

SEATTLE -- Hazmat crews responded to a report of a chemical odor at a building on the campus of the University of Washington on Friday.
An alert e-mailed to students, staff and faculty said, "Chemical Spill at Parrington Hall. Evacuation in progress. Avoid the area until further notice."
The building, Parrington Hall, houses the university's Graduate School of Public Affairs, according to the UW's website.

Fear must have struck parents arriving to pick up their children at West Bainbridge Elementary School on Friday afternoon.  They arrived to see Bainbridge Public Safety Hazmat, Public Safety officers, EMS and Decatur County Fire and Rescue blocking the front door.

What was originally thought to be a classroom mercury spill causing respiratory problems, turned out to be cleaning chemicals mixed when the spill was being cleaned.

A teacher, a custodian and a pre-K student were transported to the hospital with respiratory problems and headaches, but several hours later, appeared to be fine.  Asst. Fire Chief Welch told us that mixing some cleaning chemicals together can create toxic fumes.  He stated he worked with the Georgia State Poison Control Center and Memorial Hospital to ascertain the potential for harm in the chemicals used.

The Wayne Farms further processing plant was evacuated and four employees were hospitalized after an ammonia leak early Thursday, a company official said.

A forklift accident at 12:30 a.m. caused the ammonia release at the Plugs Drive facility.

The Decatur police and fire departments responded to the call, as did the Wayne Farms Decatur Further West Hazmat Team.

Ammonia is used in the facility=92s refrigeration process.

Four employees went to Parkway Medical Center for observation and treatment for exposure to fumes. All four were released at 5 a.m. Thursday.

MAYBROOK - Fire in a large filtration system at Eastern Alloys in Maybrook required the use of dry chemical agents to put it out.

The 35 foot high tower which contains cotton filters caught fire while it was shut down for maintenance Thursday, said Maybrook Fire Chief Charles Woznick.

Because of the presence of zinc dust, firefighters could not use water to fight the flames so the Stewart Airport Air National Guard=92s Fire Department was called in with its dry chemical extinguishing agents.

No one was injured and all of the employees were evacuated.

CHENNAI: Two persons suffered burns and two tankers went up in flames after a fire broke out at a chemicals manufacturing company in Manjankaranai near Tiruvallur, 35 km from here, early on Friday. One of the tankers was completely gutted. The cause of the fire and the loss to property are yet to be ascertained. 

Driver Ravinder (32) and cleaner Sriram Kumar (40), both from Bihar, were asleep in the driver's cabin in one of the tankers when it caught fire. They jumped down and were rescued and admitted to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital (KMCH). 

According to the police, around 5.45 am, one of the security guards noticed smoke from the godown and alerted the authorities who informed the fire and rescue services department.

A sprinkler system has saved a Christchurch bedding factory from severe damage after a chemical explosion overnight.

Firefighters were called to Comfort Technologies in Treffers Rd, Wigram, about 10.40pm yesterday when the sprinkler system went off following a minor explosion.

When they got there they found the sprinklers had put the fire out, said Fire Service southern communications acting shift manager Daryl Ball.

The majority of damage was caused by flooding from the sprinklers, but if they were not there, the damage would have been far more extensive, he said.

MONTEVALLO, AL (WBRC) - A home in Montevallo caught fire Friday afternoon in what authorities called a chemical explosion.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Department said the incident happened at a home in the 1100 block of Highway 17 just south of Maylene.  The county's Drug Task Force, which was at the scene, described the fire as a chemical explosion.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A hazardous material scare at an O.H.S.U. research lab sent two lab workers and two security officers to the emergency room with breathing problems.
Portland Fire Department hazardous materials crews spent almost six hours on the scene Thursday night.
Someone on the fourth floor of the Medical Research Building spilled about three tablespoons of acrolein-a, which gives off a strong odor, investigators said.
The chemical can also irritate the eyes, nose and lungs.
Crews evacuated the entire research building, which remained closed until Friday morning.
