Brad’s email is precisely what I meant in my first email. The state in which I work does not mandate self-closing doors. I would never endanger my employer by violating laws and regulations. Furthermore, I agree with Kay’s earlier email. I both work in a research lab and work with safety program. There needs to be some common sense and knowledge involved, both on the part of the lab wo rker when they walk into that lab and on the part of safety. < /p>

No, what he said was that in the state in which he works/resides, they have followed a more intelligent route than mandating a dangerous fix to a simple problem.
Clearly, he does not live or work in California. Good for him.

"I recently bought several safety cabinets, and I found that it is the state that mandates self closin g doors. Luckily, we were able to purchase ones with manual doors." ;
This spooks me. The abo ve statement implies that even though self-closing doors are mandated by state law (probably a UFC state) but inconvenient, you have decided to ignore the law . I hope that's not what I read.
It's hard to convince employees of the importance of safety rules and standards when we ourselves ignore the "inconvenient" ones.
