Course Content:
Thermal stress is the combination of environment, work demands, and clothin
g that increases the risk for thermal disorders. Thus, there are many varia
bles that can affect a worker's exposure to thermal stress. The TLV(r) for
Heat Stress and Strain has undergone major changes in the past 10 years and
the TLV(r) for Cold Stress is currently under review for future changes. T
his webinar will update OH&S professionals on the rationale of the Heat Str
ess and Strain TLV(r) and present information on control alternatives such
as work/rest cycles and short-term exposure times. The webinar will also ad
dress the Cold Stress TLV(r) and discuss hazards such as local tissue damag
e and hypothermia. The risk factors for these hazards will be presented alo
ng with suggested exposure limits. The interactive nature of this webinar w
ill allow attendees to submit their problem(s)/question(s) via email up to
two weeks prior to the event. Problems/questions will be reviewed during th
e live webinar.
