The toxicity difference between salt A and salt B will depend on how the the activity of the drug differs between the 2 salts. Example: Very popular glucocorticoid steroid nasal spray. Initially manufactured as the propionate salt but later introduced as the furoate salt. The furoate salt allows the drug to better target the binding sites on the target cells than propionate, therefore it is more effective and more potent and only 1/2 of the dosage it required for the furoate salt. Therefore since in this case the toxicity of the drug would greatly differ due to the different salt formulation.
