I’ll add this one to the list:

“A Recordable is an accident where the victim lives to write it down”

Gail,

Try this one:

"An accident is a near miss that hit its target."

[AXIOM: All accidents announce their impending arrival; the announcements are called "near misses".  So while the forthcoming accident in its Near-Miss-Stage, eliminate the causes of the near miss that has occurred.]

All,

I am going to present an award to a graduate student who intervened following a chemical explosion in a lab and prevented serious burns to a colleague by his quick action, and also put out a fire in a fume hood.  Do you have any appropriate “safety” quotes I can put on a plaque?  I’m looking for something more than the common ones – I’ve already searched Google.

Thanks.

Gail
