I use this in my lab supervisor safety training:

The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may
come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of
ruin. When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus
his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are
preserved.

All,
I am going to present an award to a graduate student who intervened
following a chemical explosion in a lab and prevented serious burns to a
colleague by his quick action, and also put out a fire in a fume hood. Do
you have any appropriate "safety" quotes I can put on a plaque? IÕm
looking for something more than the common ones Š IÕve already searched
Google.
Thanks.
Gail
