Jack,

The appropriate Standard is the ANSI/ISEA Z358.1-2009 American Natio nal Standard for Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment, wh ich for plumbed emergency showers and eyewashes specifies weekly testing an d Appendix B7 describes the intent  and goal of such testing.  ; This Standard does not specify that emergency shower/eyewash&nbs p;stations have tags indicating the dates of testing.  In the ISEA Revision Committee, my recollection is that the consensus was that recordkeeping of testing was outside the scope of this Standard, which is a performance standard for the equipment.  There are some other provisions for non-plumbed emergency showers and eyewashes.

Copies of the Standard can be obtained from:

Note that while I was a voting member of the Revision Committee, I receiv e no compensation from ISEA.  The revision committee did recommend t hat ISEA contact OSHA with a request to include by reference this Standard into OSHA regulations.  I do not know what the status of this is, but usually OSHA's mill grinds very slowly.
