Scrap explosion kills three,
hurts five in Kota dist

JAIPUR: Three persons, including a child were killed
and five others injured in an explosion at a vacant plot where scrap was
being melted in
Gadia Lohar ki Dhuni village in Kota on Sunday
morning.
According
to sources, Munna Lohar, a blacksmith, and his son Kamal (8) were
melting scrap when the blast occurred. Both Munna and Kamal, and a scrap
dealer Giriraj Meena, who supplied them the items, were rushed to MBS
Hospital in the city where they were declared brought dead. Five
passersby, including four children, sustained injuries.
ASP,
Kota, Laxman Gaur said the victims belonged to a nomadic community, who
deal in scrap. A case has been registered and an investigation is on.
The police are also trying to find out as from whom the scrap dealer got
the explosives, he said.
Meanwhile, a team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL)
collected samples from the spot.
The scrap
dealer was unaware of the explosives present in the scrap. Otherwise, he
would have not given it directly for melting, said an official.
Meanwhile, the police have sealed the whole area to prevent any untoward
incident.
MLA from
Ladpura, Bhawani Singh Rajawat, who reached the spot soon after the
incident, said it was an unfortunate incident as three members of a poor
family were killed. =93It was a matter of concern for people of Kota as
from where the explosives reached the scrap dealer,=94 he said.
A similar
incident occurred at a scrap factory in Vishwakarma area of Jaipur on
Septmeber 13, in which three persons died and three others sustained
serious injuries. The explosion occurred when the workers were trying to
hammer out iron from a live shell.
