Most of the books I've seen mentioned are a bit limited in scope. I have History of Chemistry by F. J. Moore, published in 1918. There are some later editions. I have found these books listed with used and rare book sellers on the internet. Moore discusses many of the pioneers in chemistry going way back even to the "ancients." B.C.
