Hello All, I have been given the task of gathering information from other universities and colleges (sorry to exclude those of you in industry) regarding their safety training programs and safety procedures. I have posted some questions below and would greatly appreciate any feedback from individuals working in academia. Please do not feel the need to answer all of the questions. Thank you, Liz Schmidt 1. What is the size and make up of your unit/school/college? Do you serve both undergraduate and graduate students? What is the percentage of undergrad and grad students? 2. What are your current safety policies and procedures for students, postdocs, and non-research personnel? 3. How do you enforce your safety policies and procedures? Who does the enforcing of the procedures and policies? 4. What type of safety training do you provide to students, postdocs, and non-research personnel? 5. What penalties, if any, are imposed on those that do not comply with safety policies and procedures? What penalties are imposed on repeat violators of safety policies, for example individuals that refuse to wear proper PPE in the lab? 6. Are Principal Investigators involved in the safety policies and procedures? If so, how are they involved?
